Office Fit-out Handover Checklist: Inspect Before Sign-off
A practical inspection list for finishes, ceilings, floors, electrical, plumbing and commissioning before office handover.
This practical guide helps you make a better-informed decision before purchasing or contracting. Project-specific requirements always take priority.
Collect records before inspection
Collect approved drawings, variations, product data, warranties and relevant test records. These define the basis for handover assessment.
Inspect visible finishes
Inspect surface alignment, joints, finish consistency, doors, trims and transitions under the actual lighting. Pay attention to edges and service outlets.
Test installed systems
Commission lights, power, HVAC, data and plumbing according to the contract and under qualified supervision. Record results by location.
Build a useful snag list
Record each defect with location, photo, owner and agreed correction date. Distinguish incomplete work from new requested changes.
Close out properly
Verify corrections and provide keys, approved access credentials, operation manuals and maintenance schedules. A documented handover makes future operation more reliable.
